What comes first, a feeling or a thought? We
can study psychotherapy for years in order to answer
this question, or we can simply ask ourselves, “Is
what I am feeling based on reality or something I
have mentally or physically contrived? It is
important to remember that an emotion will
eventually attach itself to a negative or positive
thought, so when we think of the saying, “feelings
are never right or wrong”, we need to accept that an
emotion is usually showing us something in our life
that needs to be addressed, and not necessarily what
we are legitimately feeling.
The following outline explores many aspects of the
emotional side of being human. The information
is meant to help you recognize the legitimacy of
your emotions and put them in perspective, giving
you the ability to utilize what does work for you
and manipulate what you need to grow beyond.
